The ruined man who became rich again through a dream.
1001 NIGHTS- Translated by John Payne. Vol 4. (C)1884. (Pg 134-35)
There lived once in baghdad a very wealthy man who lost all his substance and became so poor that he could earn his living by excessive labor.
One night he lay down to sleep, dejected and sick at heart, and saw in a dream one who said to him, "thy fortune is at Cairo; go thither and seek it".
So he set out for Cairo But, when he arrived there, night overtook him and he lay down to sleep in a mosque, presently, as fate would have it, a company of thieves entered the mosque and made their way thence into an adjoining house; but the people of the house being aroused by the noise, awoke and cried out, whereupon the chief of the police came to their aid with his officers.
The robbers made off but the police entered the mosque and finding the man from baghadad asleep there, laid hold of him and beat him with palm-rods, till he was well nigh dead. Then they cast him into prison where he abode three days after which the chief of the police sent for him and said to him;
"whence art thou?" "from baghdad" answered he. "And what brought thee to magistrate" quote the Baghdadi " i saw in a dream one who said to me, thy fortune is at Cairo; go thither to it but when i came thither, the fortune that he promise were prove to be the beating i had of thee."
The chief of the police laugh, till he showed his jaw teeth and said, "o man of little wit, thrice have i seen in a dream one who said to me, there is in baghdad a house of such a fashion and salute so-and -so in the garden, whereof is a fountain and there under a great sum of money buried. Go thither and take. 'yet i went not; but thee of thy little wit hast journeyed from place to place on the faith of a dream, which was but an illusion of sleep"
Then he gave him money saying "this is to help thee back to thy native land"
Now the house he had described was the man's own house in Baghdad; so the latter returned thither and digging underneth the foundation in his garden, discover a great treasure and (thus) God gave him abundant fortune.
LESSONS!!!
God in the old, usually speak to men through dreams. And God has not change, he's still the same and he still does that till now.
1. Believe in your dreams.
2. What you need is in you and around you. Many tends to look outward rather than look inward. A wise man said "you can make it from were you are with what you have", look inward!
3) Never despise or overlook a dream.
4. When God gives you a vision, a dream or an idea, when you fail to worked on it or trade it (matt 25v14-29) he takes it from you and gives it to another. Never neglect your dreams, vision or idea. Every vision has an appionted time and place (habk 2v3) if not pursue will be loose
5. No matter how big your dream, vision or idea, it will be tested and tired, if its a gold. But be persistent, never give up. Challenges will come on the way, but always remember that to claim your promise land, you must cross the red sea, and you must fight with the inhabitance. Before every david, there is a goliath, so runing away from challenges is runing away from your crown and throne. So face it, fight it, if its God that gave you the vision, then the victory is your already.
6. Also note you have to take actions, to go and to seek.
7. You will be mock. Until you are mocked, you can,t be made.
Finally, if you have a dream, pursue it till you get it. GOODluck.
